February 17th, 2009 - WDAZ switches to Digital HDTV
These are a few photos from the night of February, 17th 2009.  This was the day WDAZ turned off its analog broadcast signal, and switched the transmitter site to digital HDTV.  The site started getting ready for digital television back in 2005, so this was a big night for me.  When the clock struck 11:55pm, the analog signal was shut off.  Right away I went to work bringing the digital equipment to life.  There were a couple reporters from the station named Casey and Maria here to do live shots during the evening newscasts, and document the digital transition.

Maria and Casey want digital TV right now!   No waiting for midnight!
They wanted to interview me during the 10 o'clock news.  I like making TV, not being on TV.
The digital and analog control cabinets just minutes before the switch.  This is the last time the analog cabinet was seen operating.
