The May 2004 Ice Storm Damage Pictures

These pictures were taken May, 13th, 2004 when the transmitter building was hit by a number of large ice chunks.  After I shut the power off to the affected equipment, I took a few moments to snap some quick pictures before getting back to work.

The Ice was at it again in November of 2008.  This time a 20-30 mph wind from the north pushed the ice over to the house.

My living room seconds after the crash.  Instead of running for cover like a smart person, I went and grabbed a camera.  I was sitting just a few feet from the hole when it happened.  Throughout the night ice continued hitting the house.  The shingles on the roof were in pretty bad shape by morning.  A couple smaller holes had formed, but didn't break through.

A new look for my living room!  After two days of freezing rain in November 2008, the ice buildup coating the tower began to fall.  Back when the house was built, the roof was reinforced to withstand the occasional barrage of ice.  Apparently there was a weak spot above the living room.

After the ice hit the floor it broke apart and the smaller pieces went flying.  The one seen here bounced up from the floor and hit a lamp I was sitting next to at the time.

Here I am holding one of the many ice chunks found around the yard.  A neighbor friend of mine snapped the picture while we were surveying the damage.

In March of 2009, Target Roofing from Devils Lake, ND came out to fix up the damaged roof.
