In August of 2004, Ed Klink stopped by for a visit.  Ed was the first Transmitter Engineer for WDAZ.  He worked here from 1967 to 1986
In July of 2005 the Petersburg Civic Club came out for a tour of the transmitter site.  I had a great time showing them around.
I'm always willing to give tours,
just call ahead or email me first

WDAZ-TV started broadcasting with their new Harris platinum series transmitter in April of 2005.  As soon as the market allows or the FCC requires us to, it will be converted to broadcast digital HDTV

<< Here's a tongue-in-cheek video about life at the WDAZ transmitter site.  It was part of Milo Smith's "Take This Job and Love It" series.  It aired during the 6 o'clock news on 5-12-08
During February of 2005 the tower crew from Mid-West Steeple Jacks came out to finish up some repair  work on the tower and they invited me along for the ride.  I was strapped into a safety harness, hooked to a cable and lifted along with the crew almost all the way to the top!  It Was So Cool!  I brought a couple cameras up and some of my video made it on the 6 o'clock news.
